Rio - Day 1

Arrived early after a long and slightly bumpy flight. 5 minutes after leaving the airport we were stuck on the freeway next to a flavela - there had been some shooting. Promptly the cars all began to turn around and try to drive backwards on the freeway, against traffic. Our cab only got about 100m before the cars driving the wrong way were stopped by police. And we had to turn around again. Madhouse.




The rest of the day went relatively smoothly. Met up with the larger group, including some Brazilians. We were shown the local spots around town and ended up at this club which kept us busy until 4 in the morning.
